All of us are already familiar with Google Pixel devices. They are known for their great cameras and pure software experience. It’s been quite a while, with the Pixel devices being in the market, Google hadn’t come with something substantial change over the years.
People complained about the poor battery life of the Pixel devices, and they were not performance-oriented devices as well. The cameras on the Pixel devices are very good, but they weren’t able to make a mark in the industry due to inferior hardware.
The design also wasn’t quite attractive. With competitors offering better features on their devices, Google was a great concern to upgrade to sustain itself in the smartphone category.
So, here’s Google’s response to all of this, the Google Pixel 6 series. The new Google Pixel 6 series is pretty much the smartphone we all have wanted over the years. And in my opinion, it could be the best Android smartphone you could ever get.
Without exaggerating, let us look at the confirmed features of the Pixel 6 series, courtesy of Google’s latest tweet.
- The ‘Tensor’ processor will power the Google Pixel 6 series.
- Both the devices have three-color variants each.
- The Pixel 6 Pro will be more of a camera-centric device.
The Google Pixel 6 and the Google Pixel 6 Pro are the upcoming latest devices from the house of Google. Google announced that these devices will be launching this fall season but did not reveal the exact date.
Recently, through a Twitter post, Google teased their upcoming smartphones with a long tweet revealing and hinting about the features, specifications, and design of their new Google Pixel 6 series.
The Pixel 6 series will have a completely new design philosophy, an in-house developed chipset, superior cameras, and loads of more exciting features. This time Google has planned to ace the game with their new Pixel devices completely.
Let us know more about the revelations in detail.
Pixel 6 Series will have two devices.
Google’s latest line-up of smartphones, the Pixel 6 series, will have two Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Earlier, Google used the moniker ‘XL‘ to classify its bigger models, but everything is going to change this time.
One notable difference between the vanilla and Pro variant will be the screen size and their refresh rates. The Pixel 6 will come with a 6.5-inch display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Whereas, the Pixel 6 Pro will come with a 6.7-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Another important distinguishing feature will be the dual-camera setup on the Pixel 6 and the triple camera setup on the Pixel 6 Pro. We can also say that the Pixel 6 Pro will be a more camera-centric device.

It has a complete new design.
Looking at the leaked and rendered images of the Pixel 6 series of smartphones, this time, the design language is completely different from previous Pixel devices.
Google has chosen a more industrial look this time, with a metal and glass sandwich form-factor.
Another big difference is the camera module or what we can say is the camera bump. It is a long horizontal bar fitted with the new sensors and lenses. They protrude quite a bit which positively suggests that indeed there would be some great big sensors.
The Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro will have their own palette of color shades. Both the devices will have dual-tone contrasting shades. The Pixel 6 will come in three colors, i.e., black, pink, and green. On the other hand, Pixel 6 Pro also has three color options, i.e., black, gold and white.
Also, the Pixel 6 Pro smartphone will have ‘polished aluminum frames,’ while the Pixel 6 smartphone will have ‘matte-finished aluminum frames.’
New and Improved Camera System
As for cameras, Pixel smartphones are known for their great cameras and post-processing of images. But it’s been quite a while since we haven’t seen some significant changes in the camera hardware.
This time, Google is back in the game with upgraded camera sensors. However, exact information about the sensors isn’t known, but Google officially revealed that the Pixel 6 Pro would feature a 4x optical zoom telephoto lens.
On the other hand, the vanilla Pixel 6 will be skipping on the 4x optical zoom telephoto lens but will have the same two other sensors as the Pixel 6 Pro.
According to a report, the Pixel 6’s main camera sensor size will bring 150% more light than its predecessors.
As for the implementation of the new ‘Tensor’ processor will bring a ‘transformed experience.’ But we know that Pixel devices have very good quality image processing, so the Tensor processor should bring out even better results than before.

Say Hello to ‘Tensor’ aka ‘Whitechapel’ aka ‘GS101’
Google Tensor is the first chipset designed by Google in collaboration with Samsung. As you all know, Apple uses its bespoke A-series of processors. This time Google is also following the same path with its Google Pixel 6 line-up.
Earlier, Google used Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, but they switched to their silicon to fine-tune the chipset according to their needs and optimizations.
This ‘Tensor’ processor is developed in partnership with Samsung. It is built on a 5 nm node, and the processor sits above the Exynos 2100 processor in terms of performance.
The new ‘Tensor’ chipset is expected to come with improved performance, better AI capabilities, and machine learning. Moreover, Google will add special touches in-camera tuning and improve the speech recognition feature, voice commands, and translations.
Android 12 and the ‘Material You’
Back in May, Google unveiled the Android 12 OS at the Google I/O 2021 event. This time around, Android 12 comes with a slew of new features and a new design theme called “Material You.”
This allows users to personalize their UI experience as per their choice. With the ‘Material You’ theme, you choose custom color configurations and apply them to everything from the lock screen to the widgets, volume controls, and almost everywhere.
The Android 12 will be debuting with the Google Pixel 6 series to have an ultimate experience of the UI with upgraded hardware.
Officially Google hasn’t announced the actual date of the launch of the Pixel 6 series, but it will be coming this fall season.
